Celebrating Victorian Youth Week 2021 | Youth Central

With unique and exciting events held across the state, Victorian Youth Week 2021 started on 26 June, and engaged more than 1,000 young Victorians.

Young people were celebrated in a safe, accessible and inclusive way, and provided with opportunities to develop new skills, build social connections, engage in discussions on issues of importance to them and champion diversity.

Throughout 2021, young Victorians have had to navigate life amid the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic. With fewer occasions to get together in person, this year’s Victorian Youth Week aimed to support young people to connect with one another and re-engage with their communities. Events were held in line with health directions and promoted a sense of normalcy in an ever changing environment.

The Victorian Government invested close to $200,000 to support 97 events across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. Young people collaborated with local councils, schools and community organisations to develop and deliver events that celebrated youth culture and young people’s unique contributions to our state.

With activities spanning sports, theatre, community training, music, gaming and zine-making, Victorian Youth Week 2021 has had something for everyone. Check out the Victorian Youth Week 2021 event highlights.
