If you're looking at going on to study at uni, TAFE or another tertiary institute, you need to be as informed as possible about your options.

For example, some education institutions can offer loans to help with paying for your course. And if you do decide to take out a loan, you need to know how to go about it properly.

You also need to take care when providing your personal information - things like your tax file number (TFN), for example. If you're not careful, you might find yourself paying for courses and subjects that you aren't actually studying!

Study Assist is a website run by the Australian Government's Department of Education and Training. They've just released some pdfs you can download to find out more about:

  • Choosing an education institution to study at
  • What to think about when handing over info like your TFN
  • Census dates - what they mean and what you need to know
  • Who you can turn to if you need help

You'll find all of this information and more at the Study Assist Savvy Student page (new window).

Study Assist has also created two new information videos about:

  • How to shop around when choosing a course
  • The importance of knowing your census date

You can check out these and other videos on the Study Assist HELP Videos page (new window).
