In late 2016 the Youth Affairs Council of Victoria (YACVic) and the Victorian Government hosted twelve regional youth forums across Victoria.
Over 470 young people took part, taking the chance to discuss issues and ideas for action to improve outcomes for young Victorians.
YACVic released a report on the outcomes of the forums. The report highlighted key areas of importance for young people across the state, including:
- mental health
- education and training
- housing and homelessness

What happens next
The ideas raised at the forums were discussed further at the Victorian Government's Youth Summit on 31 March 2017. The Victorian Youth Congress will then take these ideas and turn them into action, advising government on issues that are critical to young people to help shape Victoria’s programs, services and future policy directions.
The Summit and the Congress are key actions from the Victorian Government’s Youth Policy: Building Stronger Youth Engagement in Victoria. They provide a way for young people to connect with government and shape change.
